　　哥哥们没征得布莱斯顿的同意便占用了他的房间开公司，布莱斯顿觉得很不公平，因为自己不能挣钱，在家里就没有发言权,和伙伴们去游乐场时，也只能看着别人玩，他因此而迫切地想拥有很多的钱。奶奶给他寄来的生日礼物是一张空白的支票，允许他填上自己需要的数目，但是爸爸却只给了他11美元，这连开个帐户都不够。不过他第一次知道了空白支票的作用。
　　一次骑自行车和朋友在街头追逐时，布莱斯顿的车被正在倒车的奎克利的车压坏了。奎克利刚从监狱里出来，他拿着当初藏匿的100万到银行找比德曼，通过他继续进行非法的洗钱交易。为了安全起见，奎克说明天他会指定一个人来取钱。布莱斯顿的伙伴要奎克利赔偿毁坏的车子，他不想惹麻烦，只好给他们开支票，恰恰这时一辆警车开来，做贼心虚的奎克利匆忙撕下支票给了布莱斯顿就离开了。回家后，布莱斯顿意外地发现这又是一张空白发票，他写下了100万元的数目后来到银行。比德曼以为是奎克利为了掩人耳目，故意派小孩来取钱，不假思索地就把钱给了他。
　　顷刻之间，布莱斯顿有了100万，他开始按照自己的意愿购置房产、汽车，又从市场上买来他喜欢的所有玩具。对外人他只是说自己是为一位叫麦肯塔什的老板工作。在银行工作的舍伊是布莱斯顿最仰慕的人，他幻想着有个她那样美丽的女朋友。
　　为了找回自己的100万，奎克利等人四处寻找布莱斯顿的行踪，可每次都反被捉弄得狼狈不堪。在舍伊的帮助下，奎克利等人最终落入了法网，这时布莱斯顿才知道舍伊的真正身份是联邦调查局的警探。
