简 介
改编自DH劳伦斯的原著小说，由映象风格强烈的导演肯．拉塞尔来诠释，加上两位英国老牌演员格兰达．杰克逊和奥利弗．里德的激情表演，使本片呈现出一种浓得化不开的煽动性。故事以二十年代英国煤矿小镇的一对姐妹为主角，她俩都是当地学校的教师，在一次婚礼上认识了热情洋溢的学校督察员鲁珀特和年轻英俊的矿场主人杰拉德。姐姐与鲁珀特结婚后，四人前往瑞士度假，妹妹对杰拉德逐渐感到厌烦，爱上了一位德国的雕塑家。杰拉德激愤之余企图杀死妹妹不果，在风雪迷朦中走向深谷中冻死。饰演妹妹的格兰达．杰克逊长得不美，但精彩地塑造了一个自我意识强烈的独立女性形象，勇夺金像奖影后殊荣。片中一场两位裸男打摔角的场面曾造成了议论话题。
