　　故事描述百万富翁塞西尔福克斯为了测验三个前任情妇是否对他仍然忠贞，骗她们说自己行将逝世，于是三人分头赶往威尼斯福特家中，不料富翁果然被杀。恶作剧变成精心策划的谋杀案，剧情便转往谁是凶手的路上发展。笨侦探和误导线索带来了一些笑料，但更多的时候是连篇对白，使节奏显得拖滞，剧情发展也未免故弄玄虚，成绩较预期的低。
