　　相貌清秀的青年迪兰·奥鲁克（Nick Stahl 饰）是一家葬仪社的员工，见惯了人世间的生与死，却始终看不透人生的奥义。到目前为止，迪兰的人生可谓完败，身边没有任何朋友，连当年的女友也离他远去。
　　在一次高中同学的葬礼后，迪兰突发奇想，希望举行一个自己的追悼会，看看谁会到场。在葬仪社好友德科（Brian Lynner 饰）的帮助下，迪兰的追悼会如期召开。正如他所料，前来吊唁者寥寥，除了前女友娜塔莉（Amy Smart 饰）外，便是一个从未谋面的陌生女孩查丽（Rose McGowan 饰）。“死而复生”后，迪兰对查丽颇为感兴趣，他尾随着她来到住所，却无意间闯入另一个全新而神秘的世界之中，一切变得扑朔迷离……
