简　　介
　　翠丝（谢琳·伍德蕾 Shailene Woodley 饰）和老四（提奥·詹姆斯 Theo James 饰）的分歧者身份在暴露后，无一例外地遭到了控制着军队和政权的博学派领导人珍宁·马修斯（凯特·温丝莱特 Kate Winslet 饰）的追杀。翠丝的父母为了保护她，被珍宁控制的无畏派杀害了。
　　翠丝和老四在逃往其它派系寻求庇护的同时，也努力在友好派、诚实派、无私派和无畏派里寻找同盟，以期粉碎珍宁的阴谋，推翻她的统治。与此同时，曾经处于派系体系最底层的无派系阵营大军崛起，成为了反抗珍宁统治不可或缺的力量，而这个阵营的首领竟然是老四本以为已经去世多年的母亲伊芙琳（娜奥米·沃茨 Naomi Watts 饰）。
　　但这群试图推翻珍宁统治的“反叛者”并没有立刻联合起来，老四怀疑他母亲的真实目的，翠丝和老四之间也有了越来越多的秘密。与此同时，翠丝发现身为无私派的父母竟然肩负着一个神秘使命，这个秘密正是珍宁急切想得到的，也是她追杀分歧者的原因。为了避免更多人受到伤害，也为了保护她身边的朋友和爱人，翠丝孤身前往博学派总部，试图利用分歧者的身份揭开这个巨大的秘密。在与珍宁的对抗中，翠丝不得不面对自己内心最深的恐惧，以及一个接一个几乎不可能完成的挑战。而当这个秘密终于被翠丝揭开时，所有人才发现，原来这只是故事的开始……
