　　美丽的埃拉纳是波兰王子的妻子，王子喜欢捣鼓炸药，一次在制造炸药时不幸罹难，于是，埃拉纳来到了花都巴黎寻找自己的爱情，她周旋于上流社会里寻找着自己的发展机遇，但是那些迂腐的男人提不起她的兴趣，因为她们已经产生了财政危机，为了摆脱这些，姑妈希望她攀上富商皆大欢喜，于是橡胶大王成为了下一个目标，在法国国庆日上她邂逅了伯爵亨利，也第一次听到改革派罗兰将军的名字，通过亨利她认识了罗兰将军，并在亨利的带领下去参观了将军的军事演习。可是当局害怕罗兰将军的民众号召力于是借故把他打发到一个边远地区。于是他的追随者接踵而至，公主周围的男人们也全部来到了小镇，原本平静的象征热闹了，警察监视着将军害怕他脱逃制造起义，民心所向的将军在埃拉纳等人的帮助乔装打扮下终于离开了小镇，而公主在太多变故之后终于明白自己的心上人是谁，她和伯爵亨利为了掩护将军出走的亲热变成了假戏真做，有情人终于因为爱的热忱聚首到一起。
