　　影片讲述了三位男人总想摆脱他们爱妻的独身姐姐爱娃的故事。爱娃似乎总是无处不在，她虽面容娇好，但心硬如铁：只要几句话，她就能让一位充满自信的男人顿感渺茫。 　　自从许多年以前父母过世后，爱娃便开始照料她的三个妹妹。如今，妹妹们已先后成家或订婚，可是爱娃仍一如既往地控制着她们的生活。但是，作为家庭所付出的首要代价是她自己的梦想迟迟未能实现，同时也塑造了爱娃刚强的个性，她的这种个性至今仍没有一位男人能够征服它。爱娃对妹妹们的“悉心照料”并没有得到妹夫们的理解。他们想抛售并分割爱娃监管的家庭信托基金。因此，他们策划了一个愚蠢的计划：出钱让资金出现困难的女生杀手雷·亚当斯与爱娃陷入一段恋情，使爱娃无心再去理会家族事务。一番介绍后，亚当斯和爱娃之间果然冒出了爱的火花，但是“计划”却出了错，导致了令人意想不到的后果以及有趣的混乱场面……
