简　　介
　　理纳德（杰昆?菲尼克斯 Joaquin Phoenix 饰）因病理原因被未婚妻抛弃后长时间无法解脱，居住在纽约父母公寓中的他曾多次尝试自杀。理纳德的父母正考虑与好友科恩一家搞干洗店联营，科恩家的大女儿姗德拉（凡妮莎?肖 Vinessa Shaw 饰）爱上了理纳德，但理纳德却爱上了偶遇的金发邻居蜜雪儿（格温妮丝?帕特洛 Gwyneth Paltrow 饰），然而不幸的是，蜜雪儿正与一位有妇之夫的律师罗纳德（伊莱亚斯?科泰斯 Elia Koteas 饰）陷入婚外恋。理纳德在爱情的煎熬中痛苦不堪，曙光与黑夜交替出现，让他无所适从。
