简　　介
　　故事始于一位90多岁的老人对自己在经济大萧条时期生活的追忆开始。23岁雅各衣（罗伯特·帕丁森 Robert Pattinson 饰）因为父母双亡，无力支付学费，被迫从名校肄业出逃。机缘巧合， 他在一个二流马戏团承担起了打杂和照顾动物的工作。马戏团的法宝是一只叫萝西的大象，这是一头非常有灵性的动物。可惜残暴的马戏总监奥古斯特（克里斯托弗·沃尔兹 Christoph Waltz 饰）从不知道爱惜动物。反倒他的妻子玛莲娜（瑞茜·威瑟斯彭 Reese Witherspoon 饰）充满母性地爱着马戏团的动物。因此，雅各衣在今后的日子里渐渐爱上了美丽的女人。在他们决定私奔之际被奥古斯特发现，却是萝西的惊人之举成全了他们的爱情。萝西的举动也成为了雅各保守了七十年的秘密。这个秘密到底是什么呢？
