　　亚历克斯（摩根·弗里曼 Morgan Freeman 饰）是一名资历丰富的警探，这一次，他被派遣负责国会议员女儿被绑架一案。杰姬（莫妮卡·波特 Monica Potter 饰）是负责保护被绑架女孩安全的特工，正为了自己的疏忽和失职自责不已，趁此机会，她强烈要求成为亚历克斯的搭档，一同侦破此案。
　　随着调查的深入，一个名为加里（迈克尔·温科特 Michael Wincott 饰）的男人浮出了水面，除了绑架了议员的女儿，他还和城中发生的数起绑架案有着千丝万缕的联系。亚历克斯和杰姬随即展开了岁加里的追捕，然而，老奸巨猾的加里并不会轻易的被警方捕获，恰恰相反，在不知不觉间，亚历克斯走入了加里所设下的弥天陷阱之中。
