「看见台湾」耗资9000万新台币完成，是台湾纪录片影史上，拍摄成本最高的电影。导演齐柏林花了将近5年的时间拍摄，在全台湾的上空飞行，总累积了400小时的直升机飞行时数，全片皆以空拍壮阔鸟瞰的视角，将台灣以一种你从未见过的角度与姿态，呈现在大银幕上。
从高山、海洋、湖泊、河流、森林、稻田、鱼塭、城市…等景觀，我们看见台灣是如此的美丽；但我们也看到各种环境面对人们的开发而造成的改变、破坏和伤害。土地累积了一道道的疤痕、海洋沉淀了一层层的污染。透过各个不同主题章节的串连，我们化作飞鸟，一起看见台灣，一起去看这个岛屿的美丽与哀愁。
