　　拉姆斯菲尔德，全名唐纳德.亨利.拉姆斯菲尔德，出生于美国伊利诺伊州，曾任美国国防部长。他一直被外界认为是小布什内阁中的著名鹰派代表人物之一。被认为是设计了整个伊拉克战争的人。有报道指在乔治.布什甫上任时，拉姆斯菲尔德便立即提出攻打伊拉克的主张，而是项主张亦在伊拉克战争美军正式挥军入侵时得以落实。由于美国在伊拉克战事结束后当地常发生恐怖袭击，美军在袭击中死亡人数截至2005年末已超过二千人，不少要求拉姆斯菲尔德下台，他本人也屡次请辞，但却获小布什多番挽留。2006年美国中期选举，共和党落败，失去参众两院的多数。翌日(11月8日)，拉姆斯菲尔德宣布辞职。拉姆斯菲尔德现在马里兰和新墨西哥两地居住。2011年出版回忆录“已知与未知”（Known and Unknown）——这本传记的标题就是本片标题的由来。
