　      At the beginning of the 20th century, Marie is married to Denmark's world famous painter P.S. Kr yer. They are among the country's most admired and famous couples. All the great men of the time - politicians, businessmen, noblemen, scientists, writers and royalty - wish to be depicted by Kr yer, and he can ask any price he wants. To be painted by him is a great honour and comes with great prestige. Marie, who adorns several of Kr yer's paintings, is considered to be "the most beautiful woman in Europe". Together with their daughter Vibeke they experience all the best life has to offer: parties, champagne and luxury. However, this is only the polished surface. Beneath it is living hell. Kr yer suffers from manic depression and syphilis. He can change from being cheerful and upbeat, to a foaming crazy monster without any boundaries, also within his relationship to Marie and Vibeke

      两次金棕榈得主、丹麦导演比利·奥古斯特新片在凭借《征服者佩尔》摘得奥斯卡最佳外语片、金棕榈以及金球奖扬名国际之后，奥古斯特一直在外国拍片，1992年瑞典语的《善意的背叛》再次摘得金棕榈奖，而《ThePassion ofMarie》将是他14年来的首部丹麦影片。玛丽嫁给了丹麦著名的画家克罗尔,随着克罗尔在丹麦画坛的地位与日俱增玛丽也逐渐成为了丹麦社交圈的名人。
   玛丽生下了一个女儿一家人甜蜜的生活在一起.可是好景不长,克罗尔因为无法承受与日俱增的压力精神失常威胁到了玛丽和她女儿的生命安全。在玛丽的强烈要求下克罗尔被关进了精神病医院。突如起来的打击改变了玛丽的生活玛丽决心拜托克罗尔的阴影不让自己永远和克罗尔联系在一起。正当玛丽准备迎接新的生活时，克罗尔却结束了精神病医院的治疗回到了玛丽面前。
  玛丽这是对克罗尔提出了离婚，克罗尔起初并不同意可是当他发现玛丽已经不再爱他的以后最终还是平静的接受了这个结局.Marie后来离开了他并瑞典著名的作曲家雨果·阿尔芬结合。
