　　1942年11月8日，盟军部队挺进卡萨布兰卡，而当时影片预期在翌年春季上映，于是制片方建议改动影片结尾情节，以与现实中的事态发展相吻合，但被华纳兄弟公司老板杰克·L·华纳拒绝，因为与影片故事背景相矛盾。最终，华纳终于妥协，制片人开始着手准备重拍结尾，但在克劳德·雷恩斯(Claude Rains)动身前，雷恩斯所属公司的老板大卫·塞尔兹尼克(David O. Selznick)预览了影片并催促华纳公司将原封未动的电影尽快上映。华纳公司认为计划可行，于是让影片在纽约于11月26日首映。
　　当时，英格丽·褒曼的演出合同归大卫·塞尔兹尼克所有，于是本片制片人哈尔B·沃利斯(Hal B. Wallis)委托两位编剧菲利普G·爱泼斯坦和朱利叶斯J·爱泼斯坦去说服塞尔兹尼克出借英格丽·褒曼。在向塞尔兹尼克讲述了大约20分钟故事情节后，朱利叶斯放弃道：“这是什么糟糕玩意！”塞尔兹尼克于是答应让英格丽·褒曼出演本片。
