◎简　　介
　　　　菲利帕·兰利（莎莉·霍金斯 饰）的生活一团糟，与丈夫离婚，工作不顺还患有慢性疲劳。为了缓解自己的心情，她去歌剧院看了《理查三世》从此对理查三世充满了好奇。她查阅了所有关于理查三世的书籍，发现人们称他为篡位国王，是个为了权位弑父杀兄的国王。但是菲利帕却发现人们对于理查德的故事是在一百年以后才续写下来，为了证实理查德的故事，她开始了没日没夜的翻阅书籍，成为理查三世协会成员寻找答案。执迷真相的她经常和自己幻想中的理查三世对话，这让她获得更多灵感并更加坚定自己的想法。在理查三世协会的帮助下，菲利帕终于挖到了查理三世的墓碑并且从一封埋在大英图书馆的欣证实了是议会要求他继承王位。在寻找理查三世这一过程中，菲利帕找回了自我也收获了美满的爱情。
