　　Mike Mackenzie（Dougie Henshall饰）是一个有大把时间挥霍的私营业主。他厌倦了财富带来的安稳，仍无法为5年前抛弃自己的女人释怀，而不安现状最终让其深陷麻烦。当Mike听说自己的挚爱，艺术品咨询师、拍卖师Laura Stanton（Lenora Crichlow饰）回到爱丁堡，他的生活彻底改变，为重获旧爱的芳心，他不惜一切代价。Mike与艺术品专家Gissing教授（Stephen Fry饰）和银行家Allan Cruickshank（Kenneth Collard饰）两位密友一起，意欲窃取国家银行所拥有的国宝级爱丁堡私人艺术珍藏品。这三人被私藏艺术珍品的富豪客户激怒，精心策划了一个用高仿赝品与美术馆库房中价值连城的艺术品调包的计划。政府正巧在推动开放日计划，爱丁堡奇趣大楼也将对公众开放一天。国家这一鼓励公众参观的政策对三人来说是打劫艺术珍品的绝佳机会，对Mike来说，这是个充满诱惑的挑战，也许会让他重获Laura的芳心。Mike还找来了前黑帮成员，老朋友Charlie Calloway（Brian McCardie饰），希望他的犯罪经验能帮上忙，但这也惹来了居心叵测的古怪黑帮成员的注意。当美术馆的库房大门向公众打开，这次行动已变得无后路可退。
