　　迪士尼于2008年开始推出《奇妙仙子》系列作品，首先计划推出的四部作品刚好分别就是春夏秋冬四季的故事，后来迪士尼决定继续延续此一系列，第五部作品的计划就此展开。后来迪士尼甚至决定将这部《奇妙仙子》系列作品首度尝试以ＴＶ电影首播的方式推出，因此本片推出问世的时间甚至还早于较早计划的冬天故事。而且，据说本片也会制作成３Ｄ立体版本，于发行蓝光影音产品时推出。在本片的故事中，四年一度的闰年到来，小精灵谷的仙子们每逢闰年会举办一场跨越季节的大竞赛，小精灵谷的仙子们使出浑身解数，为了争取最高的荣耀而一较高下！
