简　　介  
　　班纳一家五个女儿待嫁闺中，应上流贵族彬格莱之邀参加盛大舞会。班府大小姐简妮（莫琳·奥沙利文 Maureen O'Sullivan 饰）深受彬格莱青睐，相互倾慕。彬格莱的好友达西（劳伦斯·奥利弗 Laurence Olivier 饰）虽迷恋二小姐伊丽莎（葛丽亚·嘉逊 Greer Garson 饰），但因性情傲慢和原家中总管的儿子韦翰的污蔑招致伊丽莎白的误会与偏见。表哥柯林斯向伊丽莎白求婚遭拒后与夏绿蒂结合，并法定继承班家财产。达西再次在自己的庄园与伊丽莎白相遇时，态度诚恳、礼仪周全，伊丽莎白弄清事情真相，两人终于从傲慢与偏见的迷失中走了出来，缔结幸福之果。
