　　在一个狂风暴雨的夜晚，萨拉诺马戏团匆忙赶路，无意间丢失了团内的小斑马。这个孤独无助的小家伙很幸运地得到沃尔什农场主诺兰（Bruce Greenwood 饰）的救助，并由此得名小斑（Frankie Muniz 配音）。在诺兰及其女儿切宁（Hayden Panettiere 饰）的悉心照料下，小斑茁壮成长，它拥有极高的奔跑天赋，却因自己的怪模怪样而经常遭到隔壁农场内赛马们的嘲笑。它一心打败那些拥有纯正血统的赛马，为此私下里努力练习，并渴望有朝一日走入赛场。
　　某天，切宁的摩托车被故意损坏。为了不耽误打工，诺兰破例允许女儿骑着小斑上班。从小梦想成为妈妈那样优秀骑手的切宁，就这样和小斑开始了梦想之旅……
