简　　介  
　　雷纳德曾经是名红极一时的职业橄榄球选手，但因某种原因被关进了监狱。狱长沃顿·海森（Warden Hazen）,（艾迪·阿尔伯特Eddie Albert饰）酷爱橄榄球，却生性残忍。他专门雇佣那些擅长玩橄榄球的狱警，让他们和犯人们进行“比赛”。可怜的犯人们根本不是对手，只能任由狱警欺负。富有反叛精神的雷纳德来到球队中后，顶住了沃顿的压力，不搞种族歧视，而是团结众人共同对抗沃顿的压迫。渐渐地，他赢得了伙伴们的尊重，成为球队的精神领袖。可他也因此招致了沃顿的嫉恨。到底是放弃比赛以重获自由，还是冒着在监狱里度过余生的危险而坚持下去呢？相信每个人都会得到相同的答案。影片中的橄榄球赛场面可谓经典：大量的暴力镜头，激烈的碰撞，紧张的气氛，受伤的队员躺在病床上还不忘收听广播为队友加油……一切都使人不由自主地沉浸在这场正义与邪恶的较量之中，忘记了时间的流逝。
