　　在芝加哥担任记者的年轻女子杰米·华特斯（伊丽莎白·瑞丝 Elizabeth Rice 饰），这一日突接噩耗，她住在新加坡的姐姐安娜（Rayann Condy 饰）不知为何自杀。倍感震惊的杰米急忙飞赴新加坡，姐姐自杀的录像让她悲痛不已，虽然她绝不相信安娜会选择这种痛苦的方式，但是安娜从小患有的亨廷顿氏症似乎佐证着自杀的事实。在此之后，杰米见到了十二岁的女儿凯蒂（Adina Herz 饰），凯蒂是母亲自杀现场的目击人，内心受到莫大的冲击。
在安娜火化后，接连有各种灵异事件发生在凯蒂周围，她坚信母亲回来了，于是尝试用摩斯密码与之沟通，谁知却联系上了令人恐怖的未知存在……
