　　故事开始于奎斯塔维达大学，古灵教授（希德·海格 Sid Haig 饰）醉心于研究能够使人起死回生的妙方，为了得到更多的实验样本，鬼迷心窍的他甚至不惜化身成为了狩猎学生的冷酷杀手。然而，教授的实验失败了，死去的学生们变成了狂暴而又嗜血的丧尸，在校园里横行，传播着恐怖的能够使人变异的病毒。
国家安全局派出了研究小组“夜莺”前往学校，艾利克斯（埃曼妞·沃吉亚 Emmanuelle Vaugier 饰）、埃利斯（爱德·奎恩 Ed Quinn 饰）和达顿（斯蒂奇·芬格茨 Sticky Fingaz 饰）带领着特种兵部队如初重围杀入校园。无法控制疫情的政府决定发射导弹将整个学校炸毁，在此之前，艾利克斯必须取得最原始的病毒样本。
