　　2004年2月，青年导演让·古南的《布鲁贝里Blueberry》真正地开始了“法国式西部片”的探索。该片也许是?0年法国拍摄的最典型的西部片，根据50年代开始的同名连载漫画改编。让·古南带着剧组几乎走遍了墨西哥全境选取最合适的外景，奇丽的风光和一望无际的沙漠，陡峭的山崖和涓涓流水，诡异莫测的西部小镇和妖艳多姿的妓女，蜥蜴、蟒蛇和风沙下渐渐显露的白骨，《布鲁贝里》呈现出一个魔幻、鬼魅和苍茫的西部，涂抹上了超自然主义色彩。一个复仇故事，一本奇书和一场探险，在这里变得如梦幻世界，好比法国人做了多年的西部梦。最后的结局没有美国西部片中紧张的生死对决，没有罪恶与正义的殊死较量，反而导演用了10多分钟的视觉特效来展现英雄与魔鬼在灵魂深处的意念博斗，观众完全沉浸在迷茫奇幻的悬想世界。
