　　影片讲述一个与世隔绝的小镇“新伯利恒”（New Bethlehem），一群虔诚的人在几位长者的领导下自耕自耘地生活。
　　小镇的六户人家里，有六位，在第六个月的第六天，出生的女孩，在她们的18岁生日之夜，一个接一个地神秘失踪，继而死于非命。小镇流传的古老预言说过，六个女孩中只有一个会活下来，而她则会化身为恶魔之手。
　　影片包含些许宗教色彩，小镇“新伯利恒”使用圣城伯利恒之名，这座城市在希伯来语圣经中，是以色列大卫王的故乡和加冕之所，在新约中则是基督的出生地。而“第六个月第六日出生的六个女孩”所构成的“666”则是所谓的“魔鬼数字”。
