　　近年来发达的科技把艾蜜莉?狄金森擦掉的字迹又找回来，于是密友兼嫂子的苏珊与艾蜜莉之间的情感成了不少文坛学者争论的题目。本片大玩此命题，彻底颠覆过去众人心目中女作家终生独身的神秘隐居形象，不但帮艾蜜莉出柜，变相为父权历史中被消灭的历史残片正名，大闹一场却又让人反思历史的可信度，并以时代剧的方式带出试图重述历史的滑稽讽刺喜剧。全片走一个荒腔走板的考古路线，故意用荒谬不正经的方式叙述却又精准地谐拟历史书写的过程。
